Three die in Belgian child care center attack | Reuters.com

DENDERMONDE, Belgium (Reuters) - A man with a white painted face and blackened eyes fatally stabbed two infants and a woman at a child care center in western Belgium on Friday before cycling away.

Eleven other children and two other women workers were wounded and being treated at local hospitals, authorities said. Three of the children were in a critical condition.

The assailant arrived at the creche at around 10 a.m. (4 a.m. EST) saying he wanted to ask a question, but then leapt into one of the rooms to launch his attack before stabbing more victims in another room.

The man cycled away before being arrested at around 11:30 a.m. (6:30 a.m. EST)

The creche, in the town of Dendermonde, 30 km (20 miles) west of Brussels, held 18 children aged up to 3 years and 6 adults at the time.

Belgian media said that the man in his 30s was a psychiatric patient, but authorities did not confirm this, saying only that he would appear before a magistrate later on Friday.

"Many parents are in shock," Interior Minister Guido De Padt told a news conference.

Hospitals had made photos of the wounded available to concerned parents to help them find their children.

Urgent... Ban all water Activities!!!!

According to statistics acquired from the CDC and Kidsandguns.org, water activities accidentally kill more children between the age of 0-19 then do firearms!

In 2004 143 children were accidentally killed by firearms.

A horrible statistic by any measure; even worse,

In 2004 1065 children accidentally died by drowning while participating in water related activities.

So dig up your back yard pools, pull your child out of swim class and build barbed wire fences around the local swimming hole, according to statistics, water is 10 times more likely to accidentally kill a kid then a firearm?

Can you get home in time to say good bye?

I was just thinking

It has been a while since we have heard or seen any action over at the Crack House Apartments.  Well tonight the "blow" must be falling out of the rafters.  This is the second time in the last 2 hours that EMS and fire has showed up to cart out the crazies.  It is fantastic that we have a tax payer provided EMS and fire service however, if my house was on fire and fire/EMS was busy dealing with these tools, I would be very disappointed.  The fun never ends here in the "View"  Happy new year, welcome to 2009!
