On the Road Again

Well I am off again to the Sand Box for a good amount of time (When this posts, I will be somewhere east of the GMT line cruising along at 35,000ft).

Aside from missing family, friends and every single holiday, birthday and celebration, time for which cannot be replaced. (Like good guidance in college, you can always retake a class, you cannot relive a great party!)   The crappy, fine print side of the contract for selflessly serving our great nation.

Looking back at past deployments I have a short list of things in no particular order that I will miss:

1. The Outback Special 12oz, loaded baked potato, Caesars Salad, Shrooms, bloomin onion and washing it all down with an oil can!
2. In-and-Out Burger #1 Animal Style, (Fill in 5 Guys, Wendy's, McD's Fries, basically a good old American fast food hamburger!)
2. Carpet!
3. A sofa!
4. Being able to carry a gun because I want to, not need to.
5. Cogans Pizza.
6. Walmart (Super Target) at 11pm to buy  ice cream and toilet paper (and people watch and carry a gun ORF is rough)
7. Chip Dip
8. Taco Night!
9. Ribs on the back porch.. Not beef ribs either, they are a little too smokey!
10.  The White Trash Party!
11. Dialing whoever whenever I want via cell phone.
12. Immediate access to the best medical care world wide!
13. Cigar Night
14. "Crazy crumbs who is on at 5pm?... CC: Glenn Beck!"
15. Driving!
16. High Speed internet
17. Cable TV  aaah the History, Discovery, Military Fox news channels!

While you stroke your check to Uncle Sam today, you can sleep a little easier knowing that a very tiny portion of your taxes is going to support me and my family... Thank you...

Be good America and I will see you all in 2011!

Baby Shower, Birthday gifts aka stuff for the newborn... (parents edition)

First off, many thanks to the friends and family who have sent warm wishes, gifts and stopped by to welcome the arrival of Deuce.  From a mothers perspective the flowers, cards, meals are wonderful!  I have even included a photo of some of the loot!

However, as tradition has it, the father sometimes gets left out of the loop.  So, I have take it upon myself to get Deuce a couple of his own gifts that I will safeguard until he is of age to enjoy them.

Happy Birthday Son!

Perdomo 10 Anniverary "Champagne"

Look at the time... almost midnight on a Friday night.. Time for another cigar report.

Just got done smoking a Peromo 10th Anniversary "Champagne" cigar and doing a little reading and drinking of some Crown Royal.

Anyhow the cigar started a little rough, as in taste. Initially I was not overly impressed. As time went by. 5-6 minutes the cigar settled down and the rough taste went away and smooth cigar emerged. This was not a Cigar Dave cigar but one purchased from a local merchant, Bonds Cigars. I like to go into the store down the street now and again to peruse their selections. I really need to take and hour and enjoy one in their cigar lounge.

Anyhow the cigar was good. For $6.25 not too shabby. I would purchase this one again!

Will let ya know the crappy mouth taste report in the morning! Time for bed....

The next morning...
You know, I tasted and licked my gum's and chops kissed my wife and daughter. There was a little hint of smoking a cigar but nothing that was not cleared up by a cup of Irish coffee!

Cigar Report (Frank Llaneza 1961)

FRANK LLANEZA 1961

Very nice cigar, another good one from the Officer's Club
Lit well
Burned well
Bluish smoke from the end
Did not taste like burnt leaves at the beginning or the end for that matter. Smooth mild flavor throughout, almost creamy.
Mixed well with a glass of Makers Mark on the rocks, but then again what cigars don't go well with whiskey?

Will update in the morning as to ashtray mouth status!
Morning... No nasty cigar after taste, a good cigar!

From what I understand, these cigars are difficult to find as how very few are on the market. I will have to see if the local retailers here in the Tidewater carry or can order. I would defiantly purchase these!

Cigar Report Cusano 18 Double Connecticut

Had the pleasure of enjoying a Cusano aged 18yrs this past friday night. Was very good cigar. Lit well, burned smooth and even. Mild flavor, no crappy aftertaste the next morning. Good smoke. Even tasted well with a glass of Makers Mark. Over all a great cigar courtesy of the Cigar Dave cigar club. Might have to convince Crackerz that we should visit the factory next time we are down south.

Monti Cristos

Edmundo 135MM 52 Ring
Yep, I got a few while in the sand box and finally had the opportunity to enjoy one one the balcony.  Very nice!  I lit well, is burning well, nice smoke, perfect draw, and the flavor is good, not to harsh, not too mild.  Yum!

I won't tell my wife how much I spent on the box, however it was a gift to myself for the pain of being away from my wife a daughter!
