Slight of Hand

More words from Big John K.

As busy as most of us stay, sometimes I get only a brief chance to look over my shoulder like I did last night; and, I don't like what I see.

An Army major is allowed to openly challenge the authority of the United States, present slide shows at seminars during which he declares the jihadists' love of death and, ultimately, kills 13 servicemen and women at point blank range.  The US Army and the FBI are shown standing there with their collective fingers in their ears since each of them were privy to emails the man traded with a radical Muslim cleric.  Is this disgusting situation one of chance?  Are our law enforcement people that incompetent?  Or, is the intelligence community being told to stand down to the point where a jihadist like Major Hasan is allowed to carry through with his dreams of 40 virgins?

Yesterday, we learn that a young man's father, chairman of the largest commercial bank in Nigeria, walks into a US embassy and declares that his son may have been converted to radical Islam.  OK, what did our intelligence community do with this information?  Effectively, absolutely nothing.  This young man walks onto a flight with explosive gel strapped to his leg and nearly causes another airline disaster, coming close to his dreams of 40 virgins.  Chance, incompetence or is our intelligence community being disabled at critical decision points?

Today, thousands of Iranian protestors are carrying forward their riots against the mullahs in the streets of Tehran, taking beatings and risking death.  Seems like a tailor-made situation for the many American boys and girls who we train to exploit opportunities like these riots to bring down unfriendly governments.  What's been done by our government thus far to throw gasoline on this open flame of domestic, Iranian discontent?  Seemingly, absolutely nothing.  We appear to be stuck on a path to allowing Israel to bomb Tehran's nuclear processing facilities back to the stone age with all the world-wrecking economic consequences that move will entail, like super tankers being sunk in the Straits of Hormuz and gas at the pump priced at $10.00 per USG.  Chance, incompetence, or is our intelligence community being prevented from interceding in Iran?

Are we being deliberately distracted from 10% unemployment and a wrecked housing and auto sector to allow the failures of the current administration to go less-noticed, a "poll shaping tactic" if you will; or, is the stage being set for one of the boldest moves contemplated by the Obama administration, much bolder than taking over GM or the entire health care apparatus?  I refer to Obama's speech from July 2, 2008 during which he first floated his idea of a domestic security force, one "just as powerful, just as well equipped as the US military."

If Obama needs a huge domestic catastrophe to launch such a domestic security force, we seem to be building toward that conclusion, one security breach at a time.  What will be the catalyst?   Gasoline riots?  A massive airliner attack on another skyscraper(s)?  A full assault on a shopping mall with hundreds of casualties from automatic weapons fire?  Pick your poison, ladies and gentlemen, because it feels to me like General-for-Life Obama is heading right down that path.
